ReThinkMasjid — a Net-Zero framework for UK masjid.
Our ReThinkMasjid vertical applies the same Core Pillars framework — Fabric First, Efficient Systems, Clean Energy, Water Efficiency and Performance — to the unique operational profile of UK mosques. Sustainability is not a modern concept; it is embedded within Islamic teachings of stewardship and avoiding waste.

What this sector is contending with
- Rising energy and utility costs straining community budgets
- Ageing building fabric and systems
- Inefficient heating, cooling and ablution water usage
- Limited visibility on actual building performance
Where we add value
- Site visit and building review
- Performance diagnosis across fabric, systems and water
- Prioritised, phased improvement roadmap
- Coordination of contractors and ongoing performance monitoring
Sustainability is not a modern concept.
It is embedded within Islamic teachings and practice. Where the ReThinkMasjid programme has succeeded it is because we begin by honouring the framing that the community already lives by — stewardship of what has been entrusted, and the rejection of waste.
“O Children of Adam! Dress properly whenever you are at worship. Eat and drink, but do not waste. Surely He does not like the wasteful.”
“And [mention] when your Lord said to the angels, Indeed, I will place upon the earth a steward (khalifah).”
Our framework operationalises stewardship across the masjid: insulating what is built (fabric), running it well (systems), generating what we can (clean energy), respecting the ablution (water), and measuring the result (performance). The technical answer is the religious answer.
